  1. As well as being descended from several United Empire Loyalists who settled in the Kent/Essex County region, I am the author of several historical novels for young readers. These cover the period 1777 to 1791. Presently I am researching the period of “The Patriot Wars,” with the aim of writing a Y/A novel set at the time of The Battle on the Ice fought at Pelee Island in 1838. I have a particular interest in Pelee Island because my great-great-great-grandfather George Fox’s cabin is the oldest building on Pelee Island.

I have visited Pelee Island twice but have been unable to find answers to some of my questions; such as, what sort of school was there on Pelee Island in the 1830’s. Also, was there a church on the island at that time.

I am interested in your publications and also in joining the Association.
